Our Team Of Power Washing Experts

Castlerock Cleaning Co. is made up of a team of great people who believe in what they do (i.e. using water pumped at high pressure to clean driveways and the like). We get a real kick out of transforming patios, decks and driveways from grimy, slippery surfaces into clean, safe and beautiful areas. We think it’s rather satisfying and it’s also good to know that we’re doing our bit to make homes and business premises safer as well as more attractive. Some of us got our start back in childhood being sent to shovel snow off the driveway or sidewalk, and found that we liked it. Castlerock Cleaning Co. is an equal opportunity employer, and we insist that our team members follow our team spirit of enthusiasm, attention to detail and great customer services.

Our team members provide pressure washing services for homes and businesses in all sectors. We also cater to the needs of schools, sports clubs and places of worship. No matter how big an area you need cleaned – or how small – we’ll be more than happy to take care of the job for you.

Pressure Washing 101

If you’ve never really heard of pressure washing before and you came here because you heard it was the best way to remove moss from concrete, then it’s time to go back to basics and fill you in. Pressure washing goes by a variety of different names. You can hear it called water blasting or jet washing as well. The principle’s the same, whatever you call it! What happens is that water is pumped at high pressure through our machines and out through the washer nozzle. Water is always the best substance for cleaning just about anything, so when it’s combined with the massive amounts of kinetic energy generated by the pumping pressure, it will scour off unwanted substances from stone, tile and brick and blast it away.

Pressure washing is typically used for driveways, especially given the tendency of these areas to collect dirt. After all, we drive, walk, park our cars and sometimes shoot hoops on our driveways, so it stands to reason that we want to have them safe and clean. It’s also understandable how we manage to get them dirty – driveways get covered from anything from engine oil from our vehicles (and no matter where you are Michigan, it’s practically patriotic to own a vehicle, given the importance of the Detroit motoring industry) through to lichens, dead leaves, moss and other natural substances. Pressure washing will remove all the dirt that typically collects on driveways, but that’s not the only place where you can get the Castlerock Cleaning Co. team members to get busy. We can also clean all of the following surfaces:

  • patios, decks and barbecue areas
  • sidewalks and paths
  • steps, stairs and ramps
  • brick and tile surfaces
  • parking spaces
  • concrete and stone
  • wooden surfaces such as decking and steps

The Environmentally Friendly Way To Remove Moss, Mold And Lichen

Professional pressure washing is much better for the environment than some of those other methods of removing moss and lichen. Sure, some of those chemicals that you can pick up at the store will kill the lichens and mosses growing on your driveway, paths or sidewalk, but there are a few problems with these. Firstly, although they kill the moss and lichen and so forth, they don’t actually remove it, so you still have the problem with slipping and tripping hazards. Secondly, who really wants to splash around really toxic substances near their home or business premises where children and pets can walk on it (to say nothing of the hazard to you). Next time it rains, those chemicals will end up going down the gutter and into the water system.

Now, given that Michigan is best known for its relationship with the Great Lakes (the name for the state actually means “big lake” or “lots of water” in the Ojibway language), so we want to protect our waterways and keep them in good condition so we can all enjoy them. This isn’t going to happen if the toxic chemicals used to kill mold and lichen on driveways and paths gets down into the water system. This doesn’t happen with pressure washing for driveways, paths and patio areas. Because it’s the natural chemistry of the water plus the force provided by pumping pressure that does the work of physically removing the moss and lichen (and other dirt such as mud, dog doo-doo, chalk, etc.), our waterways are kept safe.

Why It’s Important To Keep Driveways And Patios Clean

Safety is always important not just for businesses but also in homes. One of the big hazards that are associated with concreted surfaces such as paths, sidewalks, parking spaces and driveways is tripping and slipping. Over time, dirt and grime from a range of sources build up on these surfaces. Throw in the annual serving of fall leaves plus the natural growth of moss and lichen and hard surfaces can become very slippery indeed, especially in north-facing areas of buildings that are in the shade for much of the day. Walking on such surfaces can be particularly dangerous, especially in wet conditions.

However, pressure washing is the easy and straightforward way to remove all these potential slipping hazards from sidewalks, steps and paths. With Castlerock Cleaning Co., you can arrange for one-off visits by one of our team members to water blast them clean, or you can set up regular scheduled visits. In the case of our commercial customers, regular scheduled visits to get driveways, paths, parking spaces and steps pressure washed can save a world of hassle. It means that you can rest assured that your workers and customers can come and go in and out with a dramatically reduced risk of slipping on dirty surfaces.

Besides the safety aspects of pressure washing, there’s also the esthetics. A concrete, tiled or brick surface that’s been properly cared for through regular water blasting is a thing of beauty. However, a driveway or path that’s covered with grime, old motor oil, dead leaves and lichen looks ugly and neglected – double that if some of the muck on the concrete is dog dirt. Given that first impressions count and that the paths and parking areas are often the first thing a visitor will see, it’s just more welcoming and hospitable to keep them clean with regular pressure washing.
